Developed with the support of AGRA as part of the project “Strengthening the Participation of Women and Youth in Cross-Border Trade,” this innovation marks a significant turning point in the modernization of WACTAF’s operational tools.

Faced with numerous barriers hindering regional trade, the Road Fluidity Operation has, over the years, established itself as an effective initiative to facilitate the free movement of agro-sylvo-pastoral and fisheries products. With Road Fluidity, this initiative enters a new era one of an integrated digital ecosystem capable of collecting, centralizing, and leveraging real-time data, while enhancing WACTAF’s rapid response capacity along trade corridors.

This transformation not only improves the documentation of field realities but also helps guide advocacy efforts toward more fluid, equitable, and better-regulated trade.

Already deployed among data collectors, the application is proving to be an operational tool for cross-border trade stakeholders. It offers strategic features such as :

  • Optimizing the movement of goods through real-time convoy tracking and cargo geolocation;
  • Anticipating and reducing bottlenecks via an alert system for delays, incidents, or checkpoints;
  • Improving decision-making through reliable centralized data on markets and border points;
  • Enhancing transparency and security by reducing post-harvest losses and fraudulent practices;
  • Expanding accessibility, including in low-connectivity areas, through an intuitive mobile interface.

Beyond logistical performance, Road Fluidity contributes to structuring a more inclusive cross-border trade system by strengthening the role of women and professional organizations within regional value chains.

As part of its rollout, WACTAF organized strategic training sessions in Lomé with the support of the GIZ EAT program, as well as at key border posts between Togo and Benin. These sessions strengthened the capacities of national focal points and data collectors, ensuring rapid adoption of the tool and harmonized deployment across priority corridors.
