AGRA, in collaboration with ECOWAS and WACTAF, is organizing the “Youth in Trade : Empowering Youth-Led Enterprises to Navigate the Challenges in Food Trade in Africa” Conference, scheduled for Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Mövenpick Hotel in Dakar, Senegal.

This high-level gathering will bring together key trade stakeholders to identify actionable recommendations aimed at enhancing the efficiency, inclusivity, and sustainability of regional agri-food trade, with a particular focus on youth, especially young women.

Although they hold significant potential for economic development, young traders and entrepreneurs continue to face persistent challenges, including non-tariff barriers, limited access to education and financing, and the high informality of cross-border trade activities.

It is worth recalling that WACTAF is currently implementing the project “Strengthening the Participation of Women and Youth in Cross-Border Trade in West Africa,” with financial support from AGRA.
